This is just one of those generic “I am still alive!” blog posts that people make when they haven’t updated their blog in a while. You’ll be glad to know that the reason I haven’t been blogging recently isn’t that I’ve become bored with it or run out of ideas. On the contrary, I can’t wait to get back into it, and I’m still tuned into the security world and excited about writing some articles about various subjects.

The reason I’ve been preoccupied is mainly to do with work. Over the summer I was working as an intern for The Computer Laboratory in Cambridge (essentially the Computer Science department of Cambridge University), and so I was busy doing all sorts of cool things for them. Then, in the last week, I’ve relocated all the way down to Reading to accept a position as a Security Researcher for Assuria Ltd, a small security company based on the Reading University campus.

So I’ve got my first job (after graduation), and I’ve moved into my first flat on my own. As with all moves, it comes with complications; for instance, at the moment the only internet I have comes from my iPhone’s built-in internet tethering, and as you can imagine that is quite slow. However, I should be up and running next week with a 24 Mbit/s connection, which also comes with a static IP (which will be fun).

At the moment, I’m still trying to settle in; my new job is great, and I love the location of my flat as well (very close to city centre, but mysteriously quiet). All I’m asking for now is a bit more time to make sure everything is set up to my liking, and then I’ll get back to doing some security blogging for you all!
